Dermal Aftercare

Gently clean twice a day
Wash the area with sterile saline or a gentle piercing-safe cleanser. Do not scrub or use alcohol, peroxide, or harsh soaps.

Keep the area dry and free of products
Avoid makeup, lotions, oils, perfumes, and sunscreen on or near the dermal during the first few weeks. Pat dry gently with a paper towel.

Do not touch or move the jewelry
Do not twist or adjust the piece. Any unnecessary movement can cause irritation, displacement, or rejection.

Protect the dermal from pressure or impact
Be careful when changing clothes, sleeping on the area, or wearing backpacks, belts, or accessories that may pull or press on the jewelry.

Avoid sources of irritation
Do not swim in pools, hot tubs, rivers, or the ocean for 3–4 weeks. Avoid tight clothing or dirty surfaces that may rub against the dermal.

Watch for healing or warning signs
Mild redness and clear discharge are normal in the beginning. Seek a professional if you notice intense pain, yellow pus, fever, continuous bleeding, or if the dermal starts to lift or migrate.
