Piercing aftercare

Last updated — August 20, 2026

Gentle Daily Cleaning

Clean the area twice a day using sterile saline solution. Spray it directly or apply it with a clean gauze pad without rubbing aggressively. Avoid alcohol, peroxide, or harsh soaps, as they delay healing.

Avoid Touching or Moving the Jewelry

Do not twist or rotate the jewelry while it heals. Touching the piercing with unwashed hands introduces bacteria and can lead to irritation or infection.

Keep the Area Dry and Free of Products

Gently pat dry with a paper towel after showering. Do not apply makeup, creams, oils, perfume, or sunscreen near the piercing during the initial healing phase.

Maintain Good Hygiene While Sleeping

Sleep on a clean surface and avoid resting directly on the piercing, especially with ear piercings. Change your pillowcase frequently to minimize bacteria.

Avoid Sources of Irritation

Do not swim in pools, hot tubs, or the ocean during the first few weeks. Avoid tight clothing, helmets, headphones, or accessories that may rub against or pull on the jewelry.

Monitor Healing and Warning Signs

Mild redness and clear discharge are normal in the beginning. However, seek a professional if you experience severe pain, yellow pus, fever, or worsening swelling.
